Dear ARC member,

As part of the feedback from the AGM today, a trip to the Talyllyn Railway will take place on 18th February 2012. We will be sharing this trip with Autonomy, an Autistic people’s group based in Shrewsbury.

All attending members/distant travellers will be staying at a B&B for two nights. And thanks to my mother’s unselfishness, she has volunteered to give a maximum of four members (including me) a ride in her car from Bristol Parkway rail station to our B&B in Tywyn. In other words, all attending members are advised to make their own way to Bristol Parkway rail station on Friday (17th February) and my mother will give us a ride to Tywyn. All attendees are required to confirm their attendance by 1st January 2012 and pay for the accommodation, etc. on your own behalf (the information about the B&B can be found towards the end of the letter). On the day (18th February), we will be boarding the 1:50 PM departure from Tywyn Wharf (the Talyllyn Railway’s headquarters) in order to enjoy a round trip. The day will finish with a pub visit in the town (Tywyn). For the benefit of those making their own way to Tywyn, here is the relevant information plus the information on the accommodation:

Car

If coming from the Midlands, take the A458 to Mallwyd, located approximately 26 miles west of Welshpool. From Mallwyd, take the A470 to Dolgellau before taking the A493 to Tywyn.

If coming from Northern England, take the A494 to Dolgellau before taking the A493 to Tywyn.

If coming from North Wales, take the A470 to Dolgellau before taking the A493 to Tywyn.

If coming from South Wales, take the A470 to Cemmaes Road, located 5 miles (approx.) east of Machynlleth before joining the B4404 westbound for 2 miles (approx.). Then, take the A489 to Machynlleth before taking the A493 to Tywyn. Alternatively, take the A487 to Machynlleth before taking the A493 to Tywyn.
